HOW TO REACH IT?
There are several trains from Rome to Viterbo departing from different stations (Termini, Tiburtina, Ostiense, Flaminio) that allow you to reach it in about one hour. Be sure to get off in “Viterbo Porta Romana”: this station is just a few minutes of walk to the center.

WHAT TO SEE?
PALAZZO DEI PAPI
Located in the main square, during the medieval age, it was the most important building of the city.
With its sophisticated Loggia, an architectonic element, composed of columns and arches, that was present in all the cities of that period, it represents a good example of medieval architecture.

PALAZZO DEI PRIORI
Today the house of the municipality of Viterbo was built, after the transfer of the Pope to the City, to host the civic institutions.
It is the most important building of the square named “Piazza del Plebiscito”. With the Pope’s palace, the second gem of the medieval town.

DOME
The Dome or Cathedral is the central focus of all Italian cities. In the specific, this is a well-preserved example of romanesque architecture.
It is located in San Lorenzo square and one legend says that is was built on a side of an Etruscan temple dedicated to Hercules. The church was originally considered part of the Popes Palace.
Prices and opening hours are the same as the Pope’s palace, you can visit both with one ticket.

TERME DEI PAPI
Viterbo and its near environments are also known for their thermal springs with healing properties.
They are named Terme dei Papi (baths of the Popes) and feature both indoor and outdoor pools.
